He was born in 1965 in Torino, where he began to study piano as a child, while at the same time learning
many other instruments.

When he was 10, he began to multitrack record his piano, with his parents recorders.

His first group, when he was 12, was inspired by Suicide, Contortions, Kraftwerk.

From 1984 to 1990 he goes to the cinema almost every day, and, as his "teacher" Truffaut,
he gives a vote to every film.
Directors such as Jodorowsky, Arrabal, Topor, Svankmajer, left a sign in his music.

In 1990 he was given a trumpet, which seemed more familiar than the piano and which he taught himself to play.

His discovery of the trumpet coincided with meeting Enrico Rava, his teacher during the early '90s, who convinced Giorgio
to become trumpet player.

Also in 1990, Giorgio Li Calzi won in Roma the award for the best European composer
at the Competition for Young Jazz Talents (RAI/Ives St. Laurent) and began to compose music for theatre and dance.

He began to work in the advertising world and in 1992 won in Milano the award for the best Italian composer,
for his FIAT jingle.
His groups, made up of Italian, African, Arab, Asian and Brazilian musicians, play at international festivals,
and at cinema festivals, too, like special event (2 cd dedicated to the cinema):
in 2001 and 2002 he played in Torino Film Festival and in Berlinale (Berlin Film Festival) with the pianist's Giacomo Aula trio.
